GAP
St Austin's Young Adults

Created in this world for the Next...
living in the GAP

GAP is St. Austin's ministry for Graduate students And young Professionals (GAP) in their 20s and 30s in central Austin. We gather weekly to socialize, learn, and share our Catholic faith.

Austin is a dynamic and growing city, so we constantly welcome new young adults who move here for work or for graduate studies.

Never miss an event with many ways to stay-in-touch!

More Information

Who was St. Austin?

St. Augustine of Canterbury was a missionary to England from Rome and befriended the local king upon his arrival in 597. Legend has it that Augustine met King Aethelbert under a great oak tree, and the king's conversion paved the way for much missionary success in the region. St. Augustine founded many churches including the Cathedral of Canterbury.

Austin is an English nickname for Augustine, much like Jim is a nickname for James.

Long before Austin F.C. adopted oak trees for their logo, icons of St. Austin have depicted him holding an acorn as a symbol of how friendly hospitality amid the beauty of nature can help us to share the Good News of our faith.
